Very positive evaluation of the European Citizenship Training Courses 2007/2008
The evaluation of the first six EC TCs by participants, National Agencies, trainers and Partnership was extremely positive in general.
Almost 2/3 of the participants rated the course as “very good” or “excellent” (see 1st graph). Thanks to this extremely positive overall assessment by participants, the EC TCs concept can already be considered as one of the most successful network training courses.
The knowledge of the Youth in Action programme amongst participants increased dramatically thanks to the training courses (see 2nd graph). Moreover, almost all participants expressed their intention to use the Youth in Action programme after the training courses. The few participants who did not were mainly neighbouring partner countries participants who had not found yet any partners in programme countries.
This clearly shows that the EC TCs fully fulfilled one of their main objectives, which was to “ promote and facilitate the active use of programmes and structures in support of youth work on European Citizenship, including the Youth in Action programme”.
In general, the participants assessed that all the objectives of the EC TCs were fulfilled.
The objectives related to the exploration of the concept of European Citizenship (“to critically explore the meaning relevance and implications European citizenship in youth work in all its dimensions”) were also fully reached.
One can for instance notice a substantial increase in the understanding of the European Citizenship concept amongst participants after the training courses (see 3rd graph). There was also a big rise in the confidence of participants to promote European Citizenship in their own environment (with the young people they are usually working with: see 4th graph) and outside their own environment (with young people which they do not necessarily know).
