On youth – For youth
The research co-operation between the Council of Europe and the European Commission started in 2003 under a research Covenant. It continued the long-standing youth research tradition of the Council of Europe, with a view to enhancing evidence-based youth policy and practice by encouraging ongoing dialogue between those actively involved in youth work, policy-makers and youth researchers. In 2005, it became an integral part of the partnership agreement, and now encompasses several types of activities:
- Pool of European Youth Researchers – launched in 2011, it brings together 25 youth researchers from across Europe with diverse fields of expertise related to youth. Their independent expert knowledge is at the disposal of policy-makers and youth practitioners alike.
- Thematic research seminars – take place every year on a different topic and bring together latest scientific and experiential knowledge in the field.
- Expert workshops – organised around larger thematic fields and often over the course of several years, they bring together well established experts and include input from policy-makers and practitioners.
