2011

Earlier events held in South East Europe revealed a lack of information and knowledge about the situation of youth policy, youth work and its structures in the region.
In order to bridge this gap in knowledge, the EU-CoE youth partnership, in cooperation with SALTO Resource Centre SEE, has decided to start preparing reviews on the situation of young people and on youth policy, for each of the countries of the region, as well as a summary report outlining similarities and differences among countries.

The reports will be published and presented at an event now scheduled to take place in 2012.

2009

Experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, UMNIK Kosovo representing youth research, youth and labour policy and practical youth work met to exchange information about the youth employment situation throughout the region and related youth policy developments, and to share good practice and strengthen links and networks between stakeholders at national and international levels. This event, jointly organised from 22 to 24 October 2009 with SALTO Youth South-East Europe Resource Centre and the Ministry of Education and Sport of Slovenia, took place in Brdo, Slovenia, within the framework of the Slovenian Chairmanship of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.

2008

Following on from the seminar in September 2007, 41 experts and from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, UMNIK Kosovo representing youth research, youth policy and practical youth work met again to exchange information about the situation of young people throughout the region and youth policy developments, share good practice and strengthen links and networks between the stakeholders on national and international levels. This event was jointly organised with the SALTO Resource Centre South-East Europe and the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Serbia from 22 to 24 September 2008 in Belgrade.

2007

A seminar on youth policy developments took place in Trogir (Croatia) from 13 to 15 September 2007. It was organised by the Partnership in close co-operation with the SALTO Resource Centre South-East Europe.

It brought together representatives of youth research, youth policy and practical youth work from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, UMNIK Kosovo as well as some other experts and representatives of the European institutions.

They exchanged information about and discussed:

  • Mobility and migration
  • Youth participation
  • Education: formal, non-formal, informal
  • (Un)employment
  • Family life, welfare and social protection
