The
Foundation
P&V combats the exclusion of young people. Early school leaving and youth
unemployment are on top of the societal and political agendas, both in Belgium and Europe. More and
more a ‘lost generation’ of young people is feared, which has lost every hope on a good job and a
better future.
Therefore the Foundation P&V is launching a far-reaching operation that aims, in a first
stage, to gather the most recent and relevant scientific knowledge on the subject via
a call for scientific articles. The prize for research on integration of
young people excluded by early school leaving and unemployment rewards articles which are able to
elucidate in a rigorous, empirical and original way the causes of and possible solutions for early
school leaving and/or youth unemployment in Belgium and/or Europe. The articles can be original
articles, not yet published, or articles published
after January 1, 2010 that can be republished.
The articles will be evaluated in a first round by three referees with a large expertise in
research on early school leaving and youth unemployment. In a second round, a high profile jury
will select, among the highest ranked articles of the first round, the 12 winning articles which
will be rewarded with
a prize of EUR 1,500 each.
Moreover, the 12 articles will be published in a book with a GPRC label (Guaranteed Peer
Reviewed Content) and be presented during a European conference that will be held in Brussels on
7 and 8 February 2013. The 12 laureates will be invited to comment their work and
debate with field experts, practitioners, fellow researchers and politicians. The conclusions of
this conference will determine the sequel of this multi-annual project.
The articles must be submitted
before 30 June 2012 to
saskia.de.groof@pv.be
