CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Courses on Human Rights Education

Since 2000 the Directorate of Youth and Sports of the Council of Europe has been running a Youth Programme on Human Rights Education. The programme is on again throughout 2010 with National and Regional Training Courses to be held between 15 March and 15 December 2010. This call is addressed to INGYOs and/or other NGYOs and/or other non-governmental and governmental organisations and institutions involved in human rights education with young people. News :

What are the aims of the courses on Human Rights Education?

- to introduce trainers, facilitators, youth workers and youth leaders as well as teachers to human rights education approaches and methodologies

- to mainstream human rights education in non-formal and formal education with young people

Last but not least the course must result in or contribute to the creation and strengthening of formal and informal networks for human rights education at national and regional level.

As from 2010, a special emphasis will be put on:

- Human rights education

- Youth participation, democratic citizenship and the development of youth work and youth organisations

- Promoting gender equality through youth policy and youth work

- Environment and sustainable development

- Youth information and counselling
