Aims / Objectives :
The award aims to promote voluntary activities in the field of digital literacy for elderly people, among young students from the schools of Rome. The project aims at fighting against exclusion and the social divide caused by the lack of computer skills. The award also aims to promote the educational role of school in developing active citizenship amongst the new generations and to create a network of young “knowledge volunteers” who will share experiences and competences and contribute to the development of an inclusive knowledge society.

Short description :

The project of digital literacy TELEMOUSE has been promoted in the schools of Rome in the years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.
In the frame of this project, young students can assist elderly people during digital literacy lessons (Telemouse course) and/or volunteer as ‘digital animator’ in centres for elderly people where there is an Internet Corner provided by Telecom.
The award (consisting in a grant) will be assigned to:
    * one students who has demonstrated exceptional didactic and social abilities during the Telemouse lessons
    * one student who distinguished him/herself for efforts and skills as ‘ digital animator’ at the Telecom Internet Corners installed in the elderly centres of Rome.
