Intergenerational web portal «J’t’explique!»

Area : Social cohesion and Equal opportunities

Country : France Location : France

Who implemented the activity :
A 32-year-old freelance communications consultant

Aims / Objectives :
"J’t’explique!" is an editorial project created to promote intergenerational dialogue between teenagers and their parents or grandparents who want to understand and share the world of younger people. The aim of "J’t’explique!" is to remove barriers and mutual misunderstandings between the 45+ age group and the 10-20-year-olds.

Short description :

"J’t’explique!" is above all a web magazine with two main sections:

The explanatory section:

  • a monthly article to help parents understand  kids' world, know their taste and their interests.
  • the "their era" file: to  inform parents about films, books, artists, performers, video games,  gadgets, that are "in" among young people today.
The sharing section:
  • a section on practical information and services that will help parents share the world, culture, skills and knowledge with their kids
  • a guide on outings and exhibitions that can be seen with kids
  • a selection of books, films, TV programmes and DVDs that can be shared between generations.

"J’t’explique!" is also a site for intergenerational services: a simple social network for exchanges between parents and grandparents of teenagers. Intergenerational ads to offer and find assistance (home services, school coaching, private lessons, collectors ...).
