Few words about me: Magda Nico is a sociologist (2001, New University of Lisbon). She holds a Masters Degree in “Family and Society” (2006, Lisbon University Institute) and is expected to defend her PhD Thesis by December 2011. She has been developing research on the processes of de-standardization of the life course during the transition to adulthood and on the generational and European diversity of trajectories of leaving home. Her interests also include life course research and methods, gender studies and family relations. She is a researcher assistant in ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, CIES-IUL, and has PhD grant from the Science and Technology Foundation. She collaborated with the EU-CoE youth partnership in 2009 and produced a report on Youth Lifestyles and Living Conditions Across Europe. She is the author of articles on residential autonomy among young people in Europe and Portugal.
