Organisation: School for Policy Studies, Bristol University

Few words about me: I hold an MSc in Social Policy (Research) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, obtained with distinction and I am currently a PhD student in Social Policy in the School for Policy Studies at Bristol University, where I am researching youth transitions to adulthood among European graduates. In 2010 I won the first Policy Press studentship, which provides funding for my research. I have previously studied at the LSE (London), Bocconi University (Milan), Sciences-Po (Paris) and Yonsei University (Seoul) and worked at the EIPA (European Institute for Public Administration) in Maastricht. I have a specific interest in comparative European social policy, studies on human needs, theory of social investment, social policy and the life course, measurement of poverty and well-being. My main research interest is in the comparison of the welfare sources used by young graduates across Europe. I attempt to connect studies on social mobility and equality in higher education with research on young adulthood, paying attention to the relationship between social needs and social rights. Moreover, I have a specific curiosity in the application of research methods and concepts from psychology to the realm of social policy.
I also try to link my research on social policy with European policy advising; in 2010 she joined, for example, the external research team involved in Regio2020 at the European Commission, as expert advisor in social policy; I am currently collaborating with IReR (regional research centre of Lombardy, Italy) and I am a part of the Young Academics Network of the FEPS (Foundation for European Progressive Studies). I write for the “Inequalities blog” and the “Policy Press” blog. I am one of the authors of “Cambiamenti Climatici”, a publication regarding sustainable development published in 2010 by Il Mulino; my papers on the social policy of youth transition have been presented in several conferences: Social Policy Association Conference 2010, Sociology or Risk Conference in Copenhagen 2010, Conference of the Council for European Studies 2011, BSA Youth Study Group 2011. I am a member of Social Policy Association, Fabian Society and Alumni of Collegio di Milano, a college of excellence based in Milan.
