I have international experience of research, education and training in the fields of human rights education; education for democratic citizenship; intercultural and multicultural education; and global and development education. I have also published widely in these areas. In 2004, I became the Founding Director of the Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights Education, at the University of Leeds, UK where I am currently Visiting Professor. I am also Visiting Professor at the Hong Kong Insititute of Education. In 2007 I was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. I have worked as an expert/ consultant for a range of international bodies, including UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the Carter Center, Emory University, Allanta, Georgia. This has included work in East and South East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
